A piece of clingfilm held with micropore tape is applied in the studio. Leave this dressing on until just before bed when you should remove, clean and apply a fresh dressing to your tattoo. You may wish to change the dressing before that also if you had the tattoo done early on in the day.
To clean - Take the dressing off, wash your tattoo gently with warm water and soap, pat the area dry with a clean towel and leave to air dry for 10 minutes. Then you will want to apply a thin layer or Bepanthen or THC aftercare, apply a fresh piece of cling film and secure it with micropore tape or similar.
The next morning wash and redress the area as described, repeat mid afternoon and then again before bed. On the 2nd Morning repeat the process but do not put any cling film on. Over the next few days apply a thin layer of the aftercare 5-6 times a day or as much as needed so that the tattoo does not dry out. A fine scab forms over your tattoo, when all this fine scab has come off and the tattoo is at the silvery/puckered stage it will need moisturising intensely 3-4 times a day until the skin is back into good condition then the moisturising can be done just once a day. Avoid getting the tattoo wet whilst it is healing apart from when you are washing it!! Avoid sun exposure even when the tattoo is healed, you will need to use sun block on your tattoo or it will look aged very quickly.
